SUMMARY PRESENTATION
The E.L.K.E. – AUTH (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) conducts research, educational, and demonstrative programs across a broad range of Food Technology and Hygiene topics, spanning from primary production to processing in the secondary sector of agricultural and livestock products and foods, among other areas. Additionally, it contributes to the transfer and application of contemporary know-how and provides technical support to farmers and processors, among others, through educational and lifelong learning activities.
ROLE IN PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
The Laboratory of Food Hygiene (Animal-Origin) – Veterinary Public Health, considering the main veterinary problems faced by the livestock farming operations of the Producing Bodies participating in the project, conducts the following studies/measurements: microbiological analyses, including enumeration of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (presumptive ESBL E. coli) and antibiotic measurements using the Star method [STAR PROTOCOL – Screening test for antibiotic residues by inhibitory method (EN) Jul 2011 BIO/PTC/15.AN v7] according to EU-RL Anses-Fougres. It also participates in conferences and seminars to disseminate the results and feeds the support website with new data.
