BRIEF PRESENTATION
The Agrobiotechnology and Control of Agricultural Products Laboratory of the Department of Agriculture of International Hellenic University, with long-standing experience and expertise in genetics and improvement of farm animals and farmed fish species, has participated in over 15 research programs in the last 10 years and also trains postgraduate, doctoral students and foreign PhD students in molecular techniques within the framework of ERASMUS. It has a complete laboratory infrastructure for molecular biology and genetics techniques such as: ELISA techniques, DNA-RNA isolation, DNA amplification (PCR), gene expression (RT-PCR) and separation of DNA segments with automated sequencing (Sequencing).
ROLE IN PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
The Agrobiotechnology and Control of Agricultural Products Laboratory evaluates the characteristics of the certified products of the Producer Bodies. Analyzes certified dairy products, using Molecular Biology techniques. The analysis concerns the study for the detection of antibiotic residues, in order to confirm that the said certified products are completely free of antibiotic substances. It also participates in conferences – workshops with the aim of publicizing the results and feeds the supporting website with new data.
